ESPN: WHY NOT US
I was asked to come to Baton Rouge to serve as a camera op for the show’s second season of Why Not Us on ESPN. After shooting with them for 5 days they asked me to come back again for another week. Then they asked me to come back again for another week. Eventually, that turned into 5 months of solid doc work. I learned a lot about the school, the area, and the culture of Baton Rouge. My most memorable moment was driving and filming while traveling in a hurricane. I don’t think I ever want to experience that again. However, I got some great shots and I believe the production was happy with everything captured. I shot alongside some amazing operators and I used my Arri Alexa Mini in addition to my RED Komodo for gimbal shots. These cameras used in this fashion allowed me to capture some beautiful images. Documentary work isn’t for the weak. It’s a marathon and it can be a nightmare if you don’t have a plan. If you would like to work with me on a doc let’s find a way to live in the content because that is where the most beautiful things are created.
